This year, I had the pleasure of attending the Australian Commercial Radio Awards (ACRAs), held at the Star Sydney. It was a night filled with excitement, connection, and celebration, as professionals from across the country came together to honor the very best in the radio industry.
I was fortunate to attend the event as a guest of my workplace, Radio Computing Services (RCS) Australia. I was even more thrilled to share the experience with my partner. Bringing her along made the evening extra special, as I had the chance to showcase the very best our industry has to offer.
For me, the ACRAs are more than just an awards ceremony – it’s an opportunity to reconnect with the community that first ignited my passion for radio. Throughout the evening, I caught up with former colleagues and industry peers, sharing stories about past projects, creative milestones, and the ever-evolving landscape of commercial radio. These conversations were a reminder of the camaraderie that defines this industry.
The event itself was a spectacle, from the glitz of the red carpet to the inspiring speeches delivered by award winners. Celebrating the achievements of talented individuals and teams was a humbling experience, reminding me of the incredible impact radio continues to have in Australia. Whether it was recognising innovative programming, exceptional on-air talent, or excellence behind the scenes, every award underscored the creativity and hard work driving the industry forward.
Beyond the awards, the ACRAs also showcased the radio industry’s ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly changing media environment. Attending the ACRAs reaffirmed my commitment to the industry and my admiration for the people who make it extraordinary.
