Dylan Caple to Commence at AFTRS in 2023

I’m excited to announce that I have been offered a place at AFTRS Radio and will commence studying in 2023. My offer comes after five years of community radio volunteering and nine months of working professionally in commercial audio.

The Australian Film Television and Radio School is highly regarded for its calibre of graduates and connection to the industry. I’ll be studying the school’s flagship Graduate Diploma of Radio and Podcasting, taught by those who know it best. With its high status, AFTRS is also known to be difficult to receive an offer, as cohort sizes are limited. Receiving an offer aged 19 is a huge achievement for me.

It all started in 2018 when I was looking for volunteer work to complete the Duke of Ed award. I found my first community radio station and fell in love hook, line and sinker. I’ve met some amazing people along the way, whom I’m proud to call friends. Since 2018, I volunteered over 2000 hours to community radio, working in various departments and learning plenty of skills along the way, before I even graduated high school, alongside part-time work and full-time study.

More recently, in 2022, I began working for ARN as a Street Teamer. Having seen how the business functions and KIIS (FM) live in action, I knew this was for me.

I am grateful for the support of my colleagues at ARN, my teacher at Glenwood High School, and community radio stations. I cannot wait to see what this new adventure will bring me in 2023, and where I’ll be working after graduation.
